Bernard “Bill” Berneman, 63, of Mason City, died Wednesday Feb. 8, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Randall C. Smith officiating.

Interment will follow at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. The family requests everyone come in casual dress. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Bill Berneman memorial fund in care of the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com .

Bill was born on July 22, 1953, the son of Bernard and Margaret “Peggy” (Moore) Berneman in Mason City, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Mason City High School. Following high school, Bill worked at several jobs, he then worked at Curries Manufacturing, retiring after 32 years.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting with his black Lab Jenny. He loved taking care of his yard and tending his gardens. His passion for being outdoors was highlighted with his Corvette, whether he was working on it or out on the open road for a drive.

Bill spent many hours on the computer, playing games or surfing Facebook. He also enjoyed puttering around the house fixing things. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Bill’s most prized time was spent with his granddaughter, Hayley, who brought him extreme joy.

He was known by many different nicknames, his favorite was “Wild Bill”.

Thankful for having shared in Bill’s life include his wife of 40 years, Patsy; daughter, Karen England and her fiancé Chris Durand; granddaughter, Hayley England; three sisters, Debra and Robert Tuttle, Cathy and Dale Rogers, Diane and Bruce Bonjour and many nieces, nephews and a host of great friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dale Berneman, two nephews and faithful companions, Jenny and Snoopy.
