Harold was born September 1, 1924 at a farm home near Latimer, Iowa, the fourth of twelve children, to Ori Chris and Ingeborg (Strandskov) Jaspersen. He was baptized September 21, 1924 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Coulter and confirmed April 2, 1939. Harold attended a country school near Latimer for his elementary education, Swaledale High School, and later Waldorf College in Forest City where he was on the baseball team and met his dear friend Ferd Lemke.

On April 27, 1942 he married Viola Dannen at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and they were able to spend 74 beautiful years together. Harold and Viola were the parents of two daughters, Darlene (husband Dr. Franklin Weingarten) of Portland, Oregon and Jane (husband Eugene Christianson) of Thornton. After Harold was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, he and Viola worked hard side by side and eventually were able to buy their farm near Thornton. Harold started Jaspersen Insurance & Real Estate in 1959.

Harold and Viola loved to fish with family and friends and spent many summers at their cabin in Northern Minnesota. He also loved skiing with family and they also spent several winters at Escondido, California. Harold dearly loved his family…hook, line, and sinker!

Harold was presently a member of St. Paul Lutheran in Thornton and was always active in whatever church he was a part of.

Harold is survived by his dear wife Viola, daughter Darlene and husband Dr. Franklin Weingarten (Oregon) and their children David (Guam), Ariel (Oregon) and Aaron (Oregon); daughter Jane and husband Gene Christianson (Thornton) and their son Tom Christianson (wife Kristen) of Belmond and precious great-grandchildren Court, Drew, and Jonah Christianson, son Tim Christianson (wife Brigid) of Sheffield and precious great-grandchildren Delany and Brynn Christianson.
