Dale W. Huebner, 86, of Mason City, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at the Manly Nursing & Rehab Center after struggling with Parkinson's disease.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, with a visitation one hour prior to services at Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral service. Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Veterans Association. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dale Huebner memorial fund.

Dale was born Aug. 3, 1928, in Mason City to William O. and Nora (Reick) Huebner. He grew up on the farm and started working for his uncle and aunt when he was 14 years old until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Monmouth in New Jersey where he met Carol Guttentag. They were united in marriage Jan. 3, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York. To this union were born four children, Laura, Kim, Craig and Kevin.

They farmed for six years in the Grafton area before opening a paint store in Mason City. He then sold life insurance for Principal Insurance Group for over 30 years. He was a past president of Life Underwriters' Insurance Association and also the Musicians Union and a lifelong member of Tabbert-Hollatz Post 616 in Grafton. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, horseshoes, golf (he was proud of his hole-in-one despite playing part-time) and grilling for his family.

He also loved music. He and his cousin, Kermit, founded the band "Rhythm Masters" and played in the local area for over 50 years.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Carol of Mason City; four children: Laura and Randy Boeckholt of Forest City, Kim Huebner and special friend Tom Bell of Mason City, Craig and Jeanne Huebner of Mason City, and Kevin Huebner and special friend (Donna Clausen) Huebner; also 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and his sister, Delores (Gene) Philbeck of Grover, N.C.

Dale was preceded in death by both his parents; his daughter-in-law, Christy Huebner; and his granddaughter, Kristy Fransen McGuire; also, infant granddaughters Erica Huebner and Amanda Huebner.
