Debra Sue Dannen, 63, of Omaha, formerly of Mason City and Thornton, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Pat Hall officiating.

Inurnment will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Debra was born Sept. 29, 1953, the daughter of Donald “Wayne” and Joan (Bisgrove) Ashland in Mason City.

She was united in marriage to Roger Dannen on Dec. 4, 1971, and to this union three children were born: Jeffrey, Jennifer, and Trisha. They later divorced.

A graduate of Meservey-Thornton High School, Class of 1972, she attended and graduated from Hamilton Business College. She worked in accounting and bookkeeping for most of her life.

Debra enjoyed gardening, attending her children and grandchildren’s school and sport activities, and cherished the time spent with her family; especially her grandchildren.

Debra is survived by her parents, Wayne and Joan Ashland of Clear Lake; two daughters, Jennifer Kirby of Omaha and Trisha (Nicholas) Casey of Emmetsburg; eight grandchildren, Alexa Marshall, Saige Marshall, Isaac Kirby, Harper Kirby, Ella Casey, Rylee Casey and Korbin Casey; two siblings, Greg (Janice) Ashland and Michael Ashland; a dog, Yoshi and a cat, Izzy.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Dannen; grandparents, Lester and Veronica Bisgrove, and John and Eva Ashland; and many aunts and uncles.
