Ronald Dean was born on September 13, 1939 in Mason City the son of Earl and Margaret Clute. He graduated with the class of 1957 from Mason City High School. He was the “Player of the Game” on homecoming night. He attended class breakfast on a regular basis to stay in touch with classmates. He honorable served in the National Guard. He was a co-owner of Monroe Glass from 1974 until his retirement in 2001. After a few years he became a Mason City Public Transit driver for two years.

In the fall of 1961 he met and fell in love with Dianne Robinson and they were united in marriage on September 2, 1962 at the First Presbyterian Church.

To call Ron an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan is an understatement. He would both watch the football, basketball and wrestling matches on TV, he would also listen to the announcers on the radio so he didn't miss a thing.

Ron and Dianne loved to travel. He was an avid historian student and enjoyed anything pertaining to Custer and WWII. They also spent winters in Florida and taking cruises to the Caribbean islands. In his later years he did massive amounts of genealogy study of his family and for others. Many days were spent traveling to cemeteries to find relatives and their histories. His biggest joys in life were playing ball with the grandsons he dearly loved, sharing updates with his daughter on the TV soap of “All my Children” and doing picnics and BBQ in the backyard. Ron also had a soft spot in his heart for their dogs and spoiled Miss Molly May and Kinnick who he called “The Girls”.

Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years Dianne, his son Daniel Dean Clute, Urbandale, son-in-law Bob (Kendra) Betts, Mason City, two grandsons Grant and Grayson Dean, of Urbandale, and one sister Judy Thompson, of Fort Dodge, and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, daughter Blenn Betts in 2007 and one brother Edward Clute preceded Ronald in death.
