Ardella Christensen, 93, of Mason City died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City, with a one hour prior visitation. The Rev. Ron Stein will be officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Those planning on expression of sympathy may direct memorials to Larry Christensen, 2816 N. Carolina Ave., Mason City.
Ardella Violet Christensen was born on Nov. 11, 1920, in Odin, Minn., daughter of James and Mary (Larson) Sandberg. She grew up in various southern Minnesota towns as her father worked for the railroad. She graduated from Butterfield High School in 1938 with two scholarships to the Minneapolis School of Business. She never used them; she met Andrew Christensen and married. To this union five children were born: Larry (Janice) Christensen, Mason City; Dennis (Marsha) Christensen, Manly; Connie Lindsay, Mason City; James (Wanda) Christensen, Mason City, and Barbara (John) Dahle, Minneapolis, Minn.
She worked for the Hanford Hotel (Manor) for 10 years and was head of the Housekeeping/Linen Department. She also worked for Zanios Produce and Gordon Manufacturing Co. for a number of years.
She enjoyed gardening; she raised laying hens, ducks, geese, huge garden and flowers. She canned and crocheted. She was a good cook, especially potato salad, homemade pickles and chicken-duck dinners. She played piano and violin. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, brother and great-granddaughter.
