Sharon Kay Carmody, 72, of Clear Lake, Iowa died Friday Jan. 23, 2015 at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.

A Celebration of Sharon’s Life was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday Jan. 27, 2015 at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Rev. Travis Stevick of Swaledale United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to Sharon Kay Carmody memorial fund.

Sharon was born June 4, 1942 in Mason City, Iowa the daughter of Lloyd and Bernice (Houts) Carmody. She attended country school and then Clear Lake.

She struggled with disabilities most of her life, but she fought for her independence, until at the age of 65 when she had to move to a care center. She worked in Charles City as an assistant at a photography business and then moved to Mason City and worked for N.I.V.C.

Everybody who came in contact with Sharon, learned to love her. She enjoyed her family; friends; loved animals and putting jig saw puzzles together. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mason City, Iowa.

Sharon is survived by her siblings Mary Borrill, Clear Lake, Iowa, Dennis (Mary) Carmody, Clear Lake, Iowa and Rev. Michael (Janis) Carmody, Ft. Dodge, Iowa; six nieces and nephews Kevin (Robin) Borrill, Clear Lake, Iowa, Jeff (Angie) Borrill, Ames, Iowa, Tim (Mindy) Borrill, Ames, Iowa, Pam Skaanning, Fitzburg, Wisconsin, Joshua (Alicia) Carmody, Ft. Dodge, Iowa and Jeremy (Sarah) Carmody, Ankeny, Iowa; eleven great-nieces and nephews and an aunt Mabel Carmody, Osage, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Bernice Carmody; stepfather LeRoy “Slim” Smith; brother-in-law Kenneth Borrill; one nephew Christopher Carmody; niece Sandy Borrill and two great nephews Jason and Taylor Borrill.
