Peggy Ann Gildea, 90 of Clear Lake, died Sunday, August 7, 2016, at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City.

Per Peggy’s wishes, her body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held in Arizona at a later date.

Peggy was born April 4, 1926, the daughter of Howard Walter and Ruth (Yohn) Cash in Clear Lake. She married Everett LaVern Gildea on April 21, 1946, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

A graduate of Ventura High School, Class of 1944, Peggy earned a business degree from Hamilton’s College in Mason City. She was an operations manager for the Better Business Bureau for 36 years; retiring in 1996.

Peggy was a member of the United Methodist Church. Growing up on a farm, she always enjoyed helping her dad and being involved in 4-H. She enjoyed being the starting point guard on the basketball team and always knew how to end an argument by simply refusing to participate. Her favorite quote was, “Say words that serve your best interest; choose them with care because you can never take them back.”

Peggy is survived by two children, John Gildea of Atlanta, GA and Patricia Greig of Clear Lake; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two sisters, Billi Molencamp of Rogers, MN and Winnie Lane of Oceanside, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Bob and Pete Cash; and a sister, Gayle Martin.
