Farmer Killed
In Plane Crash
Near Clear Lake
~
CLEAR LAKE (AP) – A light plane crashed into a cornfield south of Clear Lake Friday morning, instantly killing, 51 year old Marvyn S. Renshaw, farmer near Clear Lake.

Renshaw was the pilot, owner and lone occupant of the plane. The accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. and authorities said visibility was bad at the time due to fog.

The craft dug a hole about three feet deep as it crashed into the field and wreckage was scattered over a 50 foot radius.

Virgil Ashland, on whose farm the crashed occurred, said he heard the plane and it sounded as though the motor was being “revved up.” A short time later he heard the sound of the crash.

The plane did not catch fire. There apparently were no witnesses to the crash. The scene of the accident was three miles south of Clear Lake near Highway 107.

Renshaw acquired the plane a few months ago.
