9 September 1965 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Ernest Thomas Rogers, 83, were held Sept. 8 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were V. R. Gough, Earl Steffen, Charles and Harold Albaugh, Adolph Miller and Howard Parker. Mrs. Richard Palmer was vocalist and Mrs. Irma Crawford, organist. Mrs. Dale Stiff and Mrs. Harvey Laucamp were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Rogers died Sept. 5 at the Utopia nursing home after a lingering illness.

The son of Elliot and Sarah Morgan Rogers, he was born Aug. 6, 1882, in Wathamstow, England, and was educated in the Wathamstow schools. He was married to Alice Hobbs in Wathamstow June 16, 1905.

He had been a resident of Tipton for 58 years and was a carpenter in the Tipton area for 50 years.

Mr. Rogers is survived by 2 sons, Fred, Laramie, Wyo; and Alfred, Tipton; 3 daughters, Mrs. Eva Hajek, Iowa City; Mrs. Charles (Hilda) Garrison, LaGrange, Ill., and Mrs. Kenneth (Louise) Madsen, West Branch; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
