Funeral services for Walter Ralph Pierce, 68, retired farmer, were held Saturday at the Sheets-Dahn funeral home. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mr. Pierce died May 7 at University hospitals in Iowa City.

He was born Oct. 12, 1890, to Frank L. and Augusta Chandler Pierce in Cedar county where he lived most of his life. May 22, 1912, he was married to Hazel Hepner. They farmed two years in Benton county and one year in Wisconsin before returning to Cedar county. Mr. Pierce drove a school bus for 14 years for the Tipton Consolidated school.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Alvin, Tipton and Robert, Rochester; a daughter, Mrs. Roberta Achenbach, North English; a brother, Russel Pierce, Auberry, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Messner; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
