Funeral services for Ernest Riedesel Sr., 78, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Peace United Church of Christ in Bennett with the Rev. Alvin Volle in charge. Burial was in Inland cemetery.

Mr. Riedesel died Sunday in Mercy hospital at Davenport.

Ernest Riedesel was born May 8, 1879, on a farm near Wheatland, the son of Louis and Katherina Peters Riedesel.

He was the last member of a family of 14 children. He was confirmed in Wheatland by the Rev. Carl Zipp.

He was married to Marie Jess Feb. 21, 1906, by the Rev. Fred Werning at Lowden. They celebrated their golden wedding Feb. 21, 1956.

They engaged in farming and retired in 1944, moving to Bennett. They have two sons, Ernest H. and Harold H., and five grandchildren, all of Bennett.

He was a member of Evangelical & Reformed churches all his life.

Pallbearers were W. H. Fullriede, Richard Conrad, Gus Schepers, Martin Juchter, Ernest Von Roden and Tom Johnston.

Clarence Miller, Siegfried Petersen, Mrs. Alvin Volle, and Helen Wagner sang, with Mrs. Veno Conrad at the organ. Mrs. Hugo Wilkening, Mrs. Richard Conrad, Mrs. Edna Stuhr, and Carl Martens were in charge of flowers.
