Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes Chamberlain, 89, a life-long resident of the Tipton area, were held Saturday at the Dye funeral home. The Rev. Howard Dukelow was in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were William Naber, Henry Ohlinger, Robert Ford, Frank Winter, Ray Knouse, and Ralph Wingert.

Mrs. Chamberlain died at 2 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at her home in Tipton. She had been in failing health for some time.

Agnes Daisey E. Kramer, youngest daughter of Jacob Miller and Sarah Westheffer Kramer, was born Nov. 15, 1868, in Tipton. Her parents were among the early settlers of Cedar county, coming to Iowa from Pennsylvania.

She spent her entire life in Tipton, and received her education in the Tipton school.

Dec. 10, 1888, she was united in marriage to W. I. Chamberlain in Tipton, the Rev. J. D. Sheffer officiating. Seven children were born to them, all of whom survive.

In her girlhood days Mrs. Chamberlain attended the Congregational church in Tipton, which was located on the site where St. Mary's church stands today. She was secretary of the Sunday school at the same time Mr. Chamberlain was the school treasurer. After the church ceased to exist in Tipton she later was baptized and became a member of the First Methodist church of Tipton.

Mrs. Chamberlain was preceded in death by her husband Aug. 29, 1951, four sisters, a niece and a granddaughter.

Survivors are four sons, Everette and Forest, Tipton; Walter, Wilton Junction, and Ralph, Milwaukee, Wis.; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Mildred) Powers, Vinton; Mrs. Dawson (Blanche) Powers, Tipton, and Mrs. F. E. (Eva) Pirie of Stanwood; also five grandchildren, Wilbur Powers, Vinton; Mrs. Wilbur Woode, Tipton; Mrs. Eugene Snow, Elsinore, Calif.; William Pirie, Cedar Rapids, and Robert Pirie, Stanwood; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
