Adolph W. (Ott) Hill, 75, former resident of West Branch, died Aug. 27, at the Masonic sanitarium at Bettendorf, where he had been a patient since March 30. He had been in failing health the past year.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Anderson funeral home at West Branch. The Rev. L. E. Bauman of the First Methodist church, officiated, and Wapsinonoc lodge No. 381 A.F. & A.M. held a memorial service. Burial was in the Davenport Memorial park.

Mr. Hill was one of seven children of Ernest and Emma Stoltenberg Hill and was born at McCausland Jan. 8. 1883. He was a member of the U.S. marines from 1907 to 1911 and then came to West Branch. He was married to Ethel Teets at Davenport Oct. 15, 1915. They were the parents of four children.

He was a member of Wapsinonoc lodge No. 381 A.F. & A.M. and was a past master. He had the Ford dealership in West Branch until 1935 when the family moved to Davenport. He was in business there several years, then was employed by the Rock Island arsenal 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1941, his parents and one brother. Survivors are his children, Mrs. Irene Wiese, Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Marie Gibson, Moline, Ill., Mrs. Jean Rogola, Fergus Falls, Minn., and Sherman Hill of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two brothers, Walter and William, Davenport; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Schneckloth and Mrs. Verna Holst of Davenport, and Mrs. Amanda Work, Milan, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
