18 September 1958 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Carl Ulysses Beryl Wagaman, 53, were held Saturday in the Sheets & Dahn funeral home with the Rev. Arthur Stratemeyer in charge. Burial was in Shawver cemetery near Cedar Bluff. The Tipton American Legion post was in charge of graveside services.

Mr. Wagaman took his life Sept. 1. His body was not found until Sept. 11 when Mrs. Isaac Achenbach, a neighbor, discovered him in the basement of the home where he had been living. Death was caused by a single shot from a 22 caliber revolver that was found beside the body. Death was believed due to despondency caused by ill health.

Several farmers for whom Wagaman had worked stopped at the home but it was believed that he had taken a job out of town. His mother, with whom he had been living, was visiting other relatives following a serious hip injury.

The youngest son of William and Lanetta Dame Wagaman, he was born at Cedar Bluff March 31, 1905. He spent his entire life in the Cedar Bluff community, except for more than three years service in the navy.

He enlisted in the navy Sept. 27, 1942, and was honorably discharged Dec. 24, 1945.

He had lived with his mother in Cedar Bluff and worked on farms near the community.

He is survived by his mother and two brothers, Otis, Moscow, and Charles, Lisbon; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Vera) Kellerhals, and Mrs. Paul (Ruby) Kellerhals, both of Tipton.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, William.
