11 September 1958 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for the Rev. Fred L. Rodenbeck, 67, a native of Lowden, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today in the Zion Evangelical & Reformed church at Lowden. Burial will be in the Lowden cemetery.

The Rev. Mr. Rodenbeck died Sunday in his home at West Bend, Wis., after suffering a heart attack.

He was born in Lowden in 1891 and was ordained in the Evangelical church in Lowden in 1914.

He served pastorates in Fulton, Mo., Grisowld, Muscatine, Hubbard, Lincoln, Nebr., Port Washington, Wis., and Kewaskum, Wis. He served as president of the Iowa-Nebraska synod for a time.

The Rev. Mr. Rodenbeck retired in 1957 due to ill health.

He is survived by his wife, the former Elly Thomsen of Davenport; two sons, and three daughters.

Funeral services for the Rev. Fred L. Rodenbeck, 67, of West Bend, Wis., who died Sept. 7 in his home of a heart attack, were held Sept. 11 in United Church of Christ, Lowden, (Zion Evangelical and Reformed church) with burial in Lowden cemetery.

The Rev. E. Press, president of the Mid-West Synod, read the scripture and gave the prayer. He also expressed sympathy to the family and expressed appreciation for the Rev. Rodenbeck's services to the ministry. The Rev. Edwin Otte delivered the sermon.

Two hymns were sung by Mrs. Vernon Bright, Mrs. William Hensch, Henry Niermeyer and Charles Penningroth, accompanied by Mrs. Charles Strackbein.

Honorary pallbearers were the Rev. D. L. Wolfgram, Monticello; The Rev. E. J. Bowers, Clarence; the Rev. Alvin Volle, Bennett; the Rev. Arthur Stratemeyer, Tipton; the Rev. E. Koening, Wheatland; the Rev. Mr. Newgard, Big Rock; the Rev. Mr. Schneider, Cedar Rapids and the Rev. F. Rolf, Rock Island, Ill.

Active pall bearers were Homer Fisher, Emil Dircks, Arthur Fisher, Carl Dircks, Ernest Kintzel and Fred Dresselhaus.

Relatives and friends attending the services from a distance were Mrs. Rodenbeck, West Bend, Wis., Fredrick Rodenbeck, Tennessee; Mrs. Betty Fahrner and John Robert, Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Joann Kiehne, La Crosse, Wis.; Richard Rodenbeck with the U.S. army in Texas and others from Traer, Hubbard, Muscatine, Buchanan, Davenport, Tipton, Bennett, Clarence and Rock Island, Ill.
