George Addison Brown, well known retired farmer of West Branch, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Geo. Tuerk at 1009 E. 13th St., Davenport, Iowa, at 2:30 o'clock Thursday morning, after a short illness.

He was born in Butler county, Pennsylvania, Sept. 9, 1863, and moved to West Branch with his parents when a lad of two years.

He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brown and lived in West Branch the greater part of his life, although at two intervals he had left there with his parents. Later he returned to West Branch and became engaged in the occupation of farming. This he followed until two years ago when he retired.

On March 27, 1890, he was married to Miss Blanche Forsyth at West Branch, who preceded him in death in 1911.

He was a member of the Presbyterian church at West Branch and of Wapsinonoc Lodge A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Brown is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George H. Tuerk of Davenport, one grandson, George Addison Tuerk, four sisters, Mrs. J. K. Carran of West Branch, Mrs. A. A. Black of West Liberty, Miss Anna Brown of West Branch and Mrs. F. K. Michener of Cedar Rapids.

The body was brought here Thursday night and taken to the home of his niece, Mrs. R. F. Cowgill.

Funeral services were held at the Friends church Saturday morning, the Rev. W. A. Montgomery of Cedar Rapids, formerly pastor of the Presbyterian church at West Branch, officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery on the hill.
