4 April 1901 - West Branch Times

Dr. Emlin Lewis died a few days since at Pasadena, Cal., after a short illness. He was a young man at West Branch in the days when John Brown was known there. Young Lewis was connected with those stirring days. His son-in-law, Wm. Raymond, is the head of the great Whitcombe-Raymond excursions from Boston to Pasadena. The doctor came here ten years ago and was highly respected by all.

The above is taken from some California items in the Des Moines News. Dr. Lewis grew to manhood on a farm about a mile and a half east of West Branch and has many old acquaintances and friends yet residing in this vicinity, who will hear of his death with sadness.
