The death of Mrs. Anna Wendt occurred Wednesday afternoon, Mar. 3rd, at the home of her daughter Mrs. A. T. Voss in Tipton. Mrs. Wendt was born in Germany, July 5th, 1857, where she received her education and joined the Lutheran church. After her marriage to Mr. Henry Wendt, Nov. 8, 1878, the home was established in America, moving to Sunbury in 1892, where she resided until a year ago. Since that time she has made her home with her children.

There are nine children who mourn the loss of their dear mother: Mrs. Rose Voss, Tipton; Mrs. Lloyd Beaver, West Liberty; Mrs. John Sothman, Davenport; Mrs. Adolph Ruhberg, Walcott; Mrs. Ed Wain, Marion, South Dakota; Mr. Henry Wendt of Sioux Falls, S. Dak.; John Wendt of Durant; Gustav Wendt of Davenport; Frank Wendt of Muscatine.

Her husband and a daughter preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Durant chapel with the Rev. Mr. Koch of Bennett in charge. Pallbearers were her three grandsons, Lawrence and Donald Beaver, and Harvey Wendt; Norbert Ebert, Arthur Arp and Lenard Wendt taking the place of three grandsons who are in the U.S. armed forces, and were unable to come at this time. They are Marvin Beaver, Charles Sothmann and Lester Voss.
