22 February 1877 - The Tipton Advertiser

DIED. Mary, wife of Noah Vest, aged 24 years. After a sickness of about four weeks she passed peacefully away on Saturday morning, Feb. 17th.

She was born in Ohio and came to this county five years ago, and was married in December, three years ago, to the now bereaved husband. In January after her marriage she was converted and joined the Methodist church at Bethel, under the labors of Rev. S. B. Maltby. She began her religious life by the practice of reading a chapter in the Bible daily and continued it till the day she was taken sick. Her favorite hymns were "Precious Name" and "The Lord will Provide." During the pastorate of Rev. Wolf in Tipton, where she was then a member, she sought the blessing of a "clean heart," and her life since then, as well as her peaceful happy death shows that "Mary had chosen that good part which shall not be taken away." Many friends at Tipton and vicinity to whom she had endeared herself were in attendance at the funeral service at Bethel church on Monday. B. C. BARNES.
