27 December 1918 - The Tipton Advertiser

The grim reaper death knows no times nor seasons. Millions of men have recently fallen on the battlefields and in the training camps, but death is not satisfied and has been stealing stealthily into our homes and taking one after another from our firesides, leaving them desolate. He seems now not to be seeking the aged, but the young and strong, and especially that one who is the center of the home, the mother.

Another young mother, Mrs. Leora Grace Tuttle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Spence, born Dec. 13, 1887, at Washington, Ia., was called away by pneumonia Dec. 23, 1918, being at the time of her departure just ten days more than 31 years of age.

She has spent the greater part of her life in this vicinity and was married to Samuel Tuttle Jan. 16, 1905, and to this union have been born two daughters, Agnes Charlotte and Alberta.

She will be remembered by many of her neighbors for her acts of kindness in time of their need, for she was one of those who could always be counted on when one needs a friend.

Brief funeral services were conduted at the late residence on Thursday afternoon by Rev. J. N. Naly and interment made in Masonic cemetery.
