Tacy Eliza Thomas, daughter of Pearson W. and Sara W. Thomas, was born near West Branch, Iowa, Seventh Mo. 6, 1881, and departed this life Tenth Mo. 20, 1902. The funeral which was largely attended, occurred at Hickory Grove meeting house at 2 o'clock p.m., the 23rd.

She was of a meek and quiet spirit, which is of great price in the sight of God, always preferring others to herself. Having expressed the belief that the summons would shortly come, she bore her long continued suffering with the beautiful patience born of hope, and when the release came at last, as her purified spirit took flight, the agonized expression which had so long lingered over her young features, passed gently into a sweet smile, borrowed from that peaceful abode into which she was entering, all her suffering o'er. It seemed to say, "Live so that you may not miss Heaven."
