25 May 1899 - West Branch Times

Thomas Enlow, son of James and Ruth Enlow was born in Marlboro, Ohio, May 12th 1837, where he grew up to manhood and was united in marriage with Elizabeth Brittain, in December 1860. From this union there was born one son and two daughters, the daughters followed their mother in early life to the haven of rest beyond the storms of life. The father and son settled in Cedar County, Iowa, in 1866, and in 1867, the father was united in marriage to Lydia Gruwell and settled on the farm which is still the family home. To him and Lydia were born three sons and two daughters who (with the exception of one son who died in early childhood) are left with their mother and the first born son to mourn the loss of an indulgent and loving husband and father, who fell asleep in Jesus at the dawn of the morning on the 20th of May 1899.

Deceased was a consciencious, consistent man, and a member of the Friends church. The funeral services were held at the home on the 23rd, where a large concourse of friends and neighbors gathered to pay the last tribute of respect to one they loved. His cheerful countenance and loving words will be missed by all who knew him as he passed up and down among us in the associations of life. The bereaved family have the sympathy of their many friends. J.Y. HOOVER
