Mary Ann Chambers Yetter was born in Mauchchunk, Carbon county, Pa., March 27th 1821. At the age of about 18 she united in marriage with John Yetter in county of Monroe, Pa. Of this union three children were born, viz. Hiram, Franklin and Ananias, all born in the state of Pa., they living in said state until April 24th, 1856, they removed with their young family and settled in Cedar county, at that time almost as wild as Nature made, and with the trials and hardships of a Frontier home, under such unfavorable circumstances made for themselves and children, one of the finest and most comfortable homes in Cedar county, of which the one of this memorium, sincerely enjoyed. The first loss by death in this family was the eldest son Hiram who died May 24th 1868 then again on October 10th 1874 took the husband and father at the age of about 60 years, and again on Feb. 16th, 1897 death takes the wife and mother at the ripe old age of 75 years 10 months and 19 days, leaving only Frank and Ananias. She united with the Lutheran church early after her marriage. After removing to Iowa she united with the United Brethren church of which she was a member at her death. In her last sickness she often expressed herself as ready, if it was the Lord's will to cross the river of death. She also expressed thankfulness for the home of her old age and kind treatment received in her declining years. May all the loved ones left behind prepare to meet her in the bright home above. The funeral occurred from the residence of her son Ananias Yetter, near Plato, Feb 18th 1897 Funeral services being conducted by Elder A. K. Root of Tipton, Ia.
