12 February 1914 - West Branch Times

Maren Eliza Christensen (nee Larsen) was born on the Island of Fyn, Denmark, November 24, 1879.

On the first day of June, 1909, she was married to Andreas Christensen, with whom she left her home in Denmark for the United States on the 3rd of June, 1909. After a short visit with her sister in Gloversville, N.Y., they journeyed to Oregon, where they made their home until the spring of 1913, when they came to West Branch, Iowa.

Mrs. Christensen died after a short illness on the 5th day of February. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church, a good Christian, a devoted mother and wife.

On the first day of February, her only child, a sweet little girl, Ella Johanne, died, aged 3 years, 2 months and 7 days.

These deaths leave the bereaved husband and father to mourn his heavy loss. May the Lord comfort and cherish him in his great sorrow.

The funeral services were held, for mother and child, at the Danish Lutheran church, Saturday afternoon, Feb. 7th, Rev. N. P. Clemmensen officiating. Interment in the West Branch cemetery.
