Lindley H. Egerton died at his home in this city Monday evening Feb. 1st '97 after an illness of only a few days from lung fever. His age was 44 years, he leaves a wife and one son to mourn the loss of a loving companion and a tender father. He was known as a kind neighbor, an upright and conscientious citizen. He was a member of the Friends Society at Hickory Grove, but on his death bed he left a special message of love and good will to all the church organizations. His end was peace. The funeral was held this morning at 10 o'clock, at the home on west Main street, having been postponed awaiting the arrival of relatives from the east.

Lindley H. Edgerton was born December 16th, 1854, near Chester Hill in Morgan Co. Ohio where he lived until he was 25 years old when he came to Cedar County, Iowa and was united in marriage to Rachel J. Roberts of the said county. He lived on a farm near Centerdale Iowa until 4 years ago he moved to West Branch where he was a resident until the time of his death which occurred Feb. 1st, 1897. He was born into the kingdom of God Feb. 15th 1886, and ever since that date on the 15th of February would say "Today is my birthday." He lived a consistent Christian life and was happiest when doing something for his Savior, whom he loved so well. He leaves a wife, one son, a father and mother, four brothers and five sisters to mourn their loss but while they feel a deep affliction he has gone to join that innumerable caravan where he has taken up his abode with the wisest and grandest far surpassing anything of a world's production.
