Mrs. Catharine Stoltenberg passed away at her home four miles west of Tipton last Thursday, Sept. 26, 1939, at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 5 days. Funeral rites were held at the late home on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 27, at two o'clock, with the Rev. H. N. Posten officiating. The body will be cremated and the interment made in Sandhill cemetery on Sunday afternoon.

Catherine Stoltenberg, the oldest of nine children of Peter and Charlotte Stoltenberg, was born in Scott county Iowa, May 20, 1856. She was married to Jochin Stoltenberg at Davenport, Iowa, in 1879. There were nine children--seven boys and two girls, born to them; one son died in infancy; Henry died July 7, 1913; and Peter on July 11, 1933. The family moved from Scott county to Cedar county in 1893. Mr. Stoltenberg died in 1897.

Those who survive are four sons, Alfons of Tipton, Herbert and Louis at home, and Arnold of Deer Lodge, Montana; two daughters, Alma and Alice at home; two grandsons, Clarence and Glen Stoltenberg, of Ames, Iowa; two brothers, William and Peter of Davenport, and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Wunder of Manning, Iowa, beside several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stoltenberg is known as a very fine type of mother and her children rise to call her blessed.
