Mrs. Verda Mae Sterner, 72, died suddenly Jan. 14 at her home in Wilton Junction. The daughter of Charles and Sadie Johnston McQuillen Sterner, she was born on July 3, 1893 in Cedar county. She had been a resident of Wilton Junction for 46 years.

She married Charles Dallas Sterner Sept. 25, 1917 at Mechanicsville. She was a member of the Wilton Methodist church, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary post 584 and belong to the Women's Relief Corp.

Survivors include 2 sons, Charles E., Wilton Junction and Merle W., Tipton; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Charles (Olive) Whitmer, Wilton Junction and Mrs. Chris (Olga) Schneckloth of Bennett. Also 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Her parents, husband and three sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services were Jan, 17 at Wilton Junction, with Rev. Wilkens, pastor of the Wilton Methodist church, officiating. Interment was at the Oakdale cemetery in Wilton.
