FREDERIC L. GRIVEL, did June 16th, 1894. He was born August 9th 1867 in Johnson county Iowa. In the spring of 1870 he with his parents came to West Branch, where he has lived ever since. For two years he was a student in Commercial College at Iowa City. He has been a suffer from nervousness for several years, which terminated in a paraletic stroke which caused his death.

He was a quiet, industrious lad, exemplary, and highly esteemed by all who knew him.

FRED L. GRIVEL was born Aug. 9th 1867, died, June 16th 1894, aged 26 years 9 months and 8 days. He was an exemplary young man, strictly temperate, and upright in all things. When a boy, he was ever obedient, and mother's wish was law. She died Aug. 7th 1884. She was a kind, loving mother and taught her children to obey from love rather than fear. Fred has often said, "If at any time I am tempted to do wrong, the memory of my mother is enough to make me desist." He was ever a dutiful son, a kind brother and a true friend, and it is not too much to say that those who knew him best loved him most. To those who mourn the loss of a son and brother, there are only pleasant memories of the past. Loving hands ministered to his wants and much loving kindness was shown by friends and neighbors during his last illness. His time had come to go and we can only say "Thy will be done".
