GEORGE ALBIN, who has been a patient sufferer for many months from the infirmities of old age, passed to his rest at the home in this place, Sunday evening, March 19, 1893, at about 7:15.

Deceased was born in Harrison county, Virginia, in 1805, moved with his parents to Springfield, Clark county, Ohio, in 1815; in 1827 moved to Indiana, near Lafayette, where he lived until 1840 when he came to Iowa, and settled in Cedar county, on Sugar Creek. Here ten years were spent, when he went to Iowa City and resided three years, and then settled on the farm owned by him in Johnson county.

Deceased was married in 1848 to Ann Ross, of Cedar county. He has seven children living, five of which are married.

Mr. Albin carried the first mail between Iowa City and Davenport in 1851, first on horse back and then in connection with a stage line over the same route. There was at that time but two houses between Cedar river and Iowa City. He afterward carried mail between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids.
