30 January 1879 - West Branch Local Record

Last Friday morning, David Bailey, an aged and highly esteemed citizen of this township, died suddenly at his home two miles southeast of Springdale. Mr. Bailey's death was sudden, but not unexpected, as he had been afflicted with paralysis for some years, besides having several small cancers on his head and face. "Uncle David," as he was familiarly known, was a kind father, a loving husband, and a good neighbor; and although he was not a member of any religious sect, his life was pregnant with good deeds well done, so that he was practically a worthy member of the church of the living God.

He was a native of Chester county, Pennsylvania, and when a young man moved with his family to Columbiana county, Ohio. About twenty-five years ago he moved from Ohio to Iowa. He leaves an aged wife and a large family of grown up sons and daughters. He was buried at Springdale in Friends burying ground last Sunday morning.
