At 6:30 this morning occurred the death of J. Zwickey, a long time resident of West Branch. The cause of his death was said to be general debility.

The funeral of J. Zwickey was held at the Friends church in Springdale, Saturday, Sept. 23. Services were conducted by Rev. Groger of Springdale, assisted by West Branch ministers. Interment was made in Friends cemetery at Springdale. The pall bearers were W. H. Maxson, William Mather, J. S. Fawcett of Springdale and Bracken Negus and Caleb Wickersham, West Branch, and G. S. Randall of Iowa City, all of whom were old neighbors of the deceased.

Mr. Zwickey was born in Ontario, Canada, Oct. 11, 1838, was married at Cannington, Ont., 1864 and moved to Cedar county, Iowa, in 1875, where he has been a continuous resident since, having lived the last ten years at West Branch. Died Sept. 21, 1911, aged 72 years, 11 months and 11 days.

Mr. Zwickey was a man highly esteemed by all who had formed his acquaintance and was a true Christian man at heart, following the precepts of the Golden Rule, "Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them Do Unto You", all along the line of life. He was a kind husband and affectionate father and will be greatly missed by his many intimate and warm friends.

He was survived by his wife, five sons and one daughter. Those in attendance at the funeral were George F. Zwickey, wife and child of St. Paul; John L. Zwickey of Detroit; W. Claude Zwickey and family of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Lena Erb and family of Springdale and Albert H. and Walter of West Branch.
