Word was received here Saturday of the death from softening of the brain of Enos C. Shaffer, who had been a former resident of this community. He was formerly a member of Wapsinonoc Lodge No. 381 A.F.A.M., and this lodge was requested by the family to conduct the funeral services at West Liberty and a good delegation went over Monday and at 2 p.m. performed the last sad rites for the deceased.

Enos C. Shaffer was born at North Lima, Ohio, June 11, 1856, and died July 7, 1911, at his home, 817 West Main street, Enid, Oklahoma, aged 55 years and 26 days.

His mother died when he was but five years of age. At the age of seventeen he came to West Branch and made his home with Joe Albin. He spent almost his entire life in this vicinity except the last five years, during which time he had resided at Enid.

He was united in marriage with Vina Huffman in 1880 and to this union was born six children, Mrs. Ida Bahns of Columbus Junction, Mrs. Lulu Fairchild, Fairview, Okla., Carrie E., Ariana, Encer and Blanche, who preceeded him in death.

He was in poor health for about a year, but confined to his home for about five weeks. He was patient through all his suffering.
