The funeral of Mrs. W. S. Finefield occurred Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Wooten, in the Friends church at the village. The interment was made at the Rochester cemetery. Andy Linn, Wm. Creps, Jefferson Anderson, Worthy Carry, Dennie Smith and Frank Connelly were pall bearers. A large crowd of warm friends attended the services and followed the deceased to her last resting place. A number of relatives from a distance were in attendance.

Mary Luella Slater, daughter of Samuel and Emily J. Slater was born in Cedar county, Iowa, near the village of Rochester April 22, 1865, and died April 5, 1911 in the 46th year of her age. She was united in marriage with W. S. Finefield March 1, 1887. To this union were born three children, Vivian Maud, William Lyle and an infant son who survived but a few hours. Mrs. Finefield was an active and conscientious member of the M.E. church a number of years, and until she and her family moved to Springdale about 7 ago when she united with the Friends church. Since which time she has been an earnest worker with Friends church. Mrs. Finefield was active in church and Sabbath school work and died in full faith of a better world beyond. Her mother Emily J. Slater, and one brother, John O. Slater died years ago. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband and two children, her father Samuel Slater, and a step mother, Sarah J. Slater of Lisbon and three sisters, Mrs. Amanda Rhodes Of West Liberty, Dora Bell Windus of Cumberland and Mrs. Maud McCormic of Mechanicsville and one brother Wm. T. Slater of Anita, all of whom were present at her last sickness excepting her sister Mrs. Windus who was prevented from being present on account of sickness, and two half sisters, Mrs. C. A. McCormick of Mechanicsville, and Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson of Leclair and two half brothers, Charles and Emar Slater of Lisbon, Ia.
