2 January 1890 - West Branch Times

DIED, Suddenly, of heart affliction, 12th mo. 11th, 1889, at the home of her son-in-law, Jason Negus, ANN C. GRUWELL, in the 71st year of her age.

She was the widow of the late Moses Gruwell and the mother of a family of eight children, all grown, married and all still living to mourn her loss except the youngest daughter, Lida Lloyd, with whom she made her home in her widowhood. The last of 9th mo. the death of her daughter broke up her home and she was spending the winter with her daughter at Springdale, Iowa, when the summons came. She was of meek and quiet spirit, forgetful of self and always willing to lend a helping hand for the good of others.

Deceased was a member of West Branch Monthly Meeting of Friends. She loved the house of worship and was often there in great weakness.

Her family and friends will miss her very much, but they have the comforting assurance that she has been taken to rest among the redeemed who have gone before. Her mother, Patience Car, is still living, in the 93d year of her age at Marlboro, Ohio.
