Eb Fogg, 82, prominent retired farmer, died at 9:00 o'clock Sunday evening at his home on Calhoun street in West Liberty. He had been in failing health for the last two years, his condition becoming serious a week ago.

Mr. Fogg, a son of Edwin and Drusilla Fogg, was born March 3, 1852, near Salem, Ohio, coming to Iowa as a young man in 1873. He worked on his uncle's farm in Cedar county until his marriage to Rachel Negus of near Springdale on December 31, 1879. The couple purchased a farm in Cedar county not far from Springdale, and resided there until 1912 when they moved to West Liberty into their present home. The farm is now occupied by their son Arthur and family.

Mr. Fogg took an active part in civic affairs of the community. For more than 18 years he was director of the West Liberty Fair association and in 1903, 1904 and 1905 was president of that organization. He was a member of the Masonic lodge.

While engaged in farming, Mr. Fogg was prominent as a raiser of Shorthorn cattle. He also served for a number of years as trustee of Springdale township.

Mr. and Mrs. Fogg observed their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner four years ago.

Surviving are his widow and three children, Arthur and Walter of West Liberty, and Mrs. O. J. Gabel of De Kalb, Ill., and seven grandchildren. There are also three brothers, Robert of Guthrie Center, Edgar and Albert of Pasadena, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Maris of Nortonville, Kans., and Isabel Barbar of Damascus, Ohio. Henry Negus of Iowa City is a brother of Mrs. Fogg.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at West Liberty at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. A large number of friends from West Branch and Springdale attended the funeral.
