Judge John T. Moffit of Cedar district court was called to Mechanicsville Monday morning by the death of his sister, Miss Lulu Moffit, who passed away following a lingering illness at the home of her sister Mrs. C. G. Stookey. Miss Moffit was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Moffit, pioneer settlers of Cedar county, widely known throughout eastern Iowa. She was born on the old Moffit homestead in Cedar county and this community had always been her home. She is survived by five brothers, Judge John T. Moffit of Tipton, Ed, Bert, Cassius and William of Mechanicsville, and two sisters, Mrs. C. G. Stookey of Mechanicsville and Mrs. Mamie Reeder of Burlington, Iowa.

Miss Moffit was a member of the Presbyterian church.

Funeral services were held at the home of Dr. and Mrs. C. G. Stookey in Mechanicsville Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, with interment in the Mechanicsville cemetery.
