20 July 1932 - The Tipton Conservative

Henry C. Miller, pioneer blacksmith of Cedar Bluff, suffered a relapse after his return from a two weeks' stay at St. Luke's Hospital, where he was taken and submitted to a minor operation from which he rallied nicely and recuperated rapidly, and although everything was done to relieve his condition his strength was too weakened to withstand the relapse and he passed away early last Friday morning.

Mr. Miller had resided in Cedar Bluff for 50 years and had a host of friends, made by his genial personality and his square business dealing. He had been in the blacksmith business all these years, which alone proved his standing among neighbors and patrons.

Henry C. Miller was born in a log cabin four miles northwest of Tipton July 27, 1861, and passed away at his home in Cedar Bluff July 15, 1932, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 18 days. With the exception of sixteen months in South Dakota he spent his whole life in this vicinity.

He was united in marriage to Mary A. Wagamon on Dec. 29, 1887. To this union were born five children, one boy and four girls.

Mr. Miller leaves his wife and three of five children--Fred C. Miller of Charleston, S. Car.; Mrs. Thurman Fankhauser of Bennett and Mrs. Chris Kroger of Tipton. Besides these he leaves one brother, C. W. Miller of Cedar Rapids and four grandsons.

Funeral services were held in the Christian Church in Cedar Bluff Sunday afternoon at 1:30, the Rev. H. N. Poston of Tipton officiating. Burial was in the family lot at Sandhill cemetery.
