24 July 1930 - West Branch Times

Mrs. Irma Jensen, wife of Sigurd D. Jensen, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Morgan Lodge, was born April 28, 1905, at Downey, Iowa. She died at her home at Downey, Sunday morning, July 20, 1930, at the age of 25 years, 2 months and 27 days.

She was united in marriage with Sigurd D. Jensen, August 17, 1927. To their short union of wedded happiness one child, Bonita Mae, was born.

Besides a loving husband and little daughter her death is mourned by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. Morgan Lodge, of Iowa City, five sisters, Mrs. Lewis Dress of Webster City, Mrs. Guy Summers of DeWitt, Mrs. Owen Rogers, Mrs. Clifford Heacock and Mrs. Roy Letts, all of Iowa City, and one brother, Melvin, also of Iowa City. Two brothers, Carlisle and Clifford, preceded her in death. She will be greatly missed also by her husband's parents and relatives and a host of friends who have learned to love her dearly.

She has resided in and near Downey all her life. On November 17, 1929, she became a member of the Lutheran church at West Branch through baptism, having received instruction in the teachings of the Lutheran church concerning salvation prior to that time.

During her prolonged illness and much suffering Mrs. Jensen was very patient, bearing her tribulation with courage and faith, truly an example to all who saw her. She testified to her pastor and dear ones that she put her trust in God's salvation given through faith in Jesus Christ. Her favorite Bible verse, whence she received much comfort, was John 3:10, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

All who knew her loved her; and to all of them her memory will always be sacred. It is their consolation to know that she has reached that place which God had promised all who trust in the Savior whom He sent, that place where there is no suffering, sorrow, nor parting. May God comfort her sorrowing dear ones.

Short funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. A. E. Christiansen. A quartet, Mrs. W. W. Lawton, Mrs. C. C. Jacobs, Mrs. W. E. Holloway and Mrs. John Coxon, accompanied by Mrs. H. B. Howry, sang Mrs. Jensen's favorite hymn, "He Included Me". At the services held at 2:00 o'clock at the Lutheran church at West Branch, the same quartet sang "Some Time We'll Understand". Mrs. A. E. Christiansen and Mrs. Henry Johnson, accompanied by Miss Eleanor Jensen, sang "Saved By Grace." The Rev. A. E. Christiansen officiated at this service, also. Burial was made in the cemetery at West Branch.
