Tacy Elizabeth Markle was born in Muscatine county, Iowa, October 24, 1862, and departed to the Great Beyond May 29, 1930, at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 5 days, at her home in Lisbon, Iowa.

She was one of nine children born into the home of Mathias and Harriet Markle, and grew to womanhood on a farm near West Branch, Iowa. On January 26, 1889, she was united in marriage to N. Albert York, who has faithfully shared the burdens and responsibilities of the passing years. With the exception of a few years' residence in Canada, her entire life was spent in Iowa. In 1894, the couple came to Iowa City where Dr. York entered upon his medical course at the State University of Iowa. In May, 1900, the family, including three children, Ethel, Alton and Everett, moved to Lisbon, Iowa, where they have resided since that time.

She leaves to revere and cherish her memory her husband, Dr. N. A. York, three children, Mrs. H. E. Kensinger of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Alton M. York of Chicago, and Everett L. York of Grinnell, Iowa; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann, Don and Marcia Kensinger, Lauren and Marjorie York.

The funeral services was held at the home on Sunday afternoon, June 1, 1930, conducted by Rev. L. P. Krome, in the presence of a large gathering of friends. Interment was made in the Lisbon cemetery.
