Funeral services of Allen Black, 64, who died at West Liberty at 2:45 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, May 7th, following an illness of several months, although confined to his bed only since Monday, were held Friday afternoon in the Presbyterian church of that city. The Rev. J. H. Mahaffy, pastor of the church, conducted the services.

After the services there, the body was brought to West Branch where burial was made. The Rev. J. A. Saathoff, former pastor of the Presbyterian church of West Liberty, conducted a brief service at the grave.

Surviving him are his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Lulu Wells, and six grandchildren of Chicago.

Among the out of town relatives who attended the services were his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Wells, and three grandchildren of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mitchener of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Robert McClaine of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. George Tuerk of Davenport; Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hemingway, Mrs. Margaret Jack, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hayslett, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carran, Ernest Knick, Mrs. Mollie Carran and Miss Anna Brown of West Branch.
