Henry Milton Mayes, a resident of Tipton, died at his home here Monday at 10:30 a.m. He had been failing in health for some time and since last week had been critically ill. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church with the Rev. Schlick officiating. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery.

He was born in Clinton county April 15, 1862, and had reached the age of 81 years, 6 months and 3 days. He farmed before moving to Tipton about 30 years ago. He served for several years as member of the Tipton board of education and was an elder of the First Presbyterian church of Tipton. He is survived by his widow; one son, O. M. Mayes of Tipton; one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Kavanaugh of Tucson, Ariz., and one granddaughter, Barbara Kavanaugh.
