26 February 1908 - The Tipton Advertiser

A. A. Maley, a former resident of this city, died at Shenandoah last Wednesday. The remains were brought here for interment and the funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. Hess. Members of Briarwood Camp, M.W.A. of which the deceased was a member attended in a body.

The Shenandoah Sentinel tells of Mr. Maley's death as follows:

Wednesday evening just about six o'clock A. A. Maley, the big healthy looking painter who has been working for the O'Brien Wagon Works died at his home on Thomas avenue, after an illness dating from Monday forenoon.

Mr. Maley had been employed in the wagon works for the last two years and was a good painter, respected by those who knew him. He was a man of about fifty-two years of age, and came to this place from Tipton, Iowa, where he had lived and where he belonged to the M.W.A. in which organization he carried two thousand dollars life insurance. A short time ago Mr. Maley was married to Mrs. James Reid, the mother of the seven children sent to the foundling's home some time ago and who recently divorced from her husband James Reid. Mr. Maley and his new wife did not live long together and a few weeks since they parted.
