16 July 1868 - The Tipton Advertiser

DIED In this city, on the morning of the 7th of July, 1868, MRS. ROMANNAH, consort of Mr. WM. MAHANEY, aged 26 years, 1 month and 3 days.

The deceased was born in Bedford county, Penna., June 5th, 1832. In the fall of 1865, the family left their eastern home and emigrated to Tipton, Iowa.

In the spring of 1866, at the first opportunity offered, the deceased, together with her husband and daughter, handed in their letters from the church in Sebellsburg, and were received into the communion of the Lutheran church of Tipton, in which she continued a consistent member until her unexpected removal from our midst. Her illness was short and her death sudden and unexpected to all; and has fallen with crushing weight upon the deeply afflicted family; but they have the blessed consolation of knowing that her end was peaceful and happy; that she now lives in a time where sorrow, disease and death are unknown.

We deeply sympathize with our bereaved brother and his family, and commend them to God, and to the word of His grace, who is able to keep them unto life eternal. PASTOR.
