19 April 1877 - The Tipton Advertiser
DIED At his home in Tipton, on Tuesday, April 10th, 1877, Mr. AARON CASE HUMPHREY, in the seventy-ninth year of his age.
The deceased was born in Simmsbury, Conn., February 3d, 1799. At the age of seven he went with his parents to Delaware Co., Ohio, where he lived until emigrating to Iowa in 1842--in the meantime having been married to Miss Betsy Starr. After reaching this State, Mr. Humphrey lived one season in Johnson Co., and then removed to Cedar, of which at the time of his death he had been a resident over 34 years. He was thus well known as one of the old settlers at this ripe old age is another of the reminders now growing so frequent that a generation is passing from among us. A large family of five sons and eight daughters, together with his second wife, survive him. The funeral services on Friday were conducted by Rev. S. A. Lee, his appropriate remarks being based on Psalm LXXIII, 26.
