Funeral services for Verna Hoyman, 80, former Tipton teacher,, were held at Bloomington, Ill. Jan 24 with the Rev. Thor Bogren officiating. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery Jan. 25.

Miss Hoyman died at Brokaw hospital, Bloomington, Jan. 23.

The daughter of Charles and Nellie George Hoyman, she was born at Stanwood March 19, 1905. She graduated from Stanwood high school, Iowa State Teachers college and received her MA degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill.

She taught in Tipton, Iowa City, Elmhurst, Ill., Winona, Wis. and Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg before joining the English department of Illinois State University in 1946. She retired in 1972.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Normal, the Beta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority and was church librarian for several years.

Miss Hoyman was a member of Presbyterian Women's organization, Church Women United, the Improvement League, Home Extension, Retired Teacher's Association, Illinois State University Annuitants, Idiens Club, McLean County League of Women Voters, United Nations Association and Home Sweet Home Mission Auxiliary.

Survivors include 2 brothers, Willard, Olin and Leland, Fort Doge.
