Wm. H. Hastings, an honored veteran and citizen of this county, died at his home in West Branch Monday, after an illness of four months. At the breaking out of the civil war, he enlisted in the 22d Iowa Infantry for three years, or during the war and served out his enlistment. He was well and favorably known, especially in the western part of the county, having lived there since 1869. He was engaged in farming a number of years and afterwards in business in West Branch. The funeral services were conducted Tuesday.
