Former Mining Man dies Monday-
Millard Fillmore Howe, 88, former mining and dredge operator in the Virginia City area, died Monday at his home , 601 North Ewing, after an illness of 4 months. Mr. Howe had resided here for the past 6 months. He came here from Virginia City where he resided for 8 years, operating a dredge in that area until the outset of WWII. He also had resided at Sheridan after coming to Montana 15 years ago. He was born March 15, 1861, in Poweshiek co., Iowa. He was a member of the Masonic order at Tacoma, Washington. Surviving are his widow, Sonna K. Howe of Helena, a son, Earl D. Howe of Portland, Oregon, a daughter, Dorothy Strong, of Durkee, Oregon, and a brother, Harry Howe, of Sheridan. The body is at the OPP-Corral-Retz funeral home. Arrangements are pending.
*NOTE* Millard was the son of Freeman and Malinda Ridenour Howe and was actually born in Cedar county, not Poweshiek county.
