Services Set For Paul Smith, 61

Paul Herbert Smith, 61, of 709 Hickory died Wednesday morning at the Veterans Hospital in Omaha. He had been a patient at the hospital since March 28.

Mr. Smith was born July 5, 1912, in Atlantic, the son of Herbert Glen and Florence Herbert Smith. He graduated from the Atlantic High School and later made his home in New York until being drafted into the Army. After serving in World War II, Mr. Smith made his home with his parents on a farm in Pymosa Township and later in Atlantic. He lived most of his life in Cass County and was a member of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his step-mother, Mrs. Herbert Smith of Atlantic; two brothers, Richard G. Smith of Atlantic and David T. Smith of Council Bluffs; a sister, Mrs. Larry (Eleanor) Dunbar of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; an uncle, Clarence Smith; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Roland Funeral Home, with Rev. John A. Lippincott of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Brighton Township Cemetery northeast of Marne.

The family will meet relatives and friends from 7:30-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
