George Pratt Dies in Arizona

George Elliott Pratt, 89, former Cass County resident, died at Youngtown, Ariz., this morning.

The son of Wilbur D. and Elta M. Brown Pratt, he was born near Hull Jan. 30, 1886, and grew up on a farm in Benton Township.

Mr. Pratt was married to Lena Young in March, 1915, and in January, 1926, they moved to Wapello, where they operated a variety store for 29 years. The couple moved in 1958 to Youngtown, Ariz., where he made his home.

Following the death of his wife, Lena, in 1959, Mr. Pratt married Kathryn DeCamp Aug. 10, 1960. His second wife, Kathryn, died last Feb. 1.

Mr. Pratt was a 67-year member of the Masonic Lodge, joining the Anita Obedience Lodge 380 AF&AM in July, 1908. He transferred membership to Wapello Lodge 5 in the late 1920s. He was a member of Chapter One of AARP, the Acacia Club and the Civic Club in Youngtown. He also had the distinction of voting in every presidential election since 1908.

Surviving are nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lena, in 1959; his second wife, Kathryn, last Feb. 1; a son, Charles, in 1925; his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at the Long Funeral Home in Anita at 2 p.m., Friday, with Anita Obedience Lodge 380 AF&AM in charge. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita.
